zone expérimentale basel
zone expérimentale basel, an ensemble comprising students on the Masters programme on Contemporary Music at the FHNW Academy of Music in Basel, Switzerland. zone expérimentale basel comprises a group of students who have distinguished themselves both as exceptional artistic personalities as well as virtuoso instrumentalists. It is not a classical ensemble; instead it creates a framework for discovery, both for the players themselves and the audience. The focus therefore is on the exploration of different possibilities for musical expression in Contemporary Music, but also on the works of the ‘parents’ of today’s music. Chamber music programmes are therefore alternated with installations and improvisational work. The ensemble’s programmes deal with a wide range of subjects and span from solo works to pieces for a large ensemble of up to 16 players.
DIAGONAL
DIAGONAL is the Contemporary Music ensemble of the FHNW Academy of Music Basel. Led by Jürg Henneberger, who is also in charge of the DIAGONAL concert programme, the ensemble performs major 20th century classics and contemporary works.
ESB Noise Ensemble
The ESB Noise Ensemble was founded as part of Svetlana Maraš's aural training course. In addition to listening to and analysing works of electronic and experimental music, the students also find themselves in a performance environment to interpret electronic music by other artists with their own set-ups. This has resulted in a new ensemble with a focus on improvisation and live electronic sound.
